Abstract Submission Guidelines

We encourage submitters to think about the story they are trying to relay, and how they will make the presentation dynamic to keep the audience engaged.

Abstracts should be submitted as a response to the following questions (maximum of 350 words):

  • What is the problem/issue that requires public health action? [Context and aim]

  • What do we know or have we learned to address this problem/issue, and how has this finding been derived? [Methods and analysis/research findings]

  • How has this been used in practice? [Translational outcomes]

  • What actions should we take in the future to address the problem/issue? [Future actions]

Please note, that while the submission questions are a departure from the traditional scientific approach to abstracts, the text in the squared brackets indicates the corresponding traditional structure. The purpose of this change is to shift the focus to be more action/future orientated.

Abstract Requirements

  • Presentations require the submission of an abstract and will be peer reviewed.

  • The abstract title should be no longer than 12 words.

  • The abstract should be a maximum of 350 words in simple text paragraphs without images or tables. If providing information about whether the relevant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community/ies have provided permission to publicise the research findings, an extra 50 words is permitted.

  • If there is more than one author, all correspondence will be sent to the person whose name and email address is entered with the abstract.

  • A maximum of two (2) abstracts may be submitted per presenting author.

  • All abstracts must be original work and submitted in English.

  • Presenters must be registered to attend the face-to-face in order to present.

  • All abstract submissions must agree to the Speaker Terms and Conditions upon submission of the abstract.

  • Abstracts submitted for presentation will be published exactly as received and should be checked for spelling and grammar prior to submission. Do not submit a version with ‘track changes’ active.

  • It is the submitting author’s responsibility to ensure that the abstract uploaded to the server is the correct version.

  • All presenters must register once they have confirmed their acceptance of the presentation offer and pay the conference registration fee.

  • Pre-recorded presentations must supply their presentation by the deadline provided at the time of abstract acceptance. Recorded presentations will be played in the room and will not be available to view via the plenary hub.

Please note, concurrent sessions will only be available to delegates at the venue.
